Mass Appointment Ceremony Marks Hiring Drive
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally distributed appointment letters to 357 junior drug analysts and five cooperative society recruits at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow on Sunday, signaling the start of a record government hiring spree. The event, held under the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, formalized selections made through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission for positions advertised in 2024. The five candidates from Mau district — Abhishek Gupta, Amit Prajapati, Vinay Gupta, Prashant Rai, and Mayank Pratap — received their letters for the Cooperative Societies and Panchayat Audit Department, part of the Finance Department.
Chief Minister Pledges 150,000 Recruitments This Year
Addressing the gathering, Adityanath declared that the state government would complete recruitment for over 150,000 posts in 2025, with specific targets assigned to various recruitment agencies. The Subordinate Services Selection Commission is set to fill approximately 32,000 positions, while the Public Service Commission will handle about 15,000 appointments. The Police Recruitment Board has already conducted examinations for sub-inspector and home guard roles, covering roughly 45,000 posts, with an additional 45,000 positions under active processing.
Strict Anti-Cheating Law to Curb Recruitment Fraud
Adityanath emphasized the government's zero-tolerance policy toward recruitment irregularities, citing a stringent law that mandates life imprisonment and property confiscation for those found guilty of cheating or malpractice. He criticized previous administrations, alleging that recruitment boards were plagued by corruption, with 'uncle-nephew' syndicates extorting money while chairpersons were made scapegoats when scandals emerged. The current government, he said, has made the process fully transparent and merit-based, restoring youth confidence.
Drug Testing Capacity to Quadruple with New Analysts
The appointment of 357 junior drug analysts is expected to dramatically enhance the state's drug quality control capabilities. These analysts will test samples collected by drug inspectors under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940, ensuring purity, efficacy, and compliance with standards. With all 18 district-level laboratories now equipped with modern furniture and advanced instruments, the annual testing capacity will surge from 12,000 to 54,500 samples — a more than fourfold increase. Previously, only five laboratories served the entire state.
Transparent Recruitment Yields Diverse Representation
The selection process for the 357 analyst posts was conducted transparently and on merit, with results announced on March 11, 2026. The successful candidates include 143 from the general category, 75 from Scheduled Castes, 6 from Scheduled Tribes, 97 from Other Backward Classes, and 36 from the Economically Weaker Section. The government highlighted that no recommendations or interventions influenced the outcome, reinforcing a culture of fair opportunity.
Ongoing and Upcoming Recruitment Drives Across Departments
Several other recruitment processes are underway. For the Uttar Pradesh Police, 32,679 positions were advertised on December 31, 2025, including 10,469 for male civil police, 15,131 for male PAC, 1,341 for female PAC, and 3,385 for jail wardens. Applications closed on January 30, 2026, with written exams scheduled for June 8-10, 2026. The Lekhpal recruitment for 7,994 posts saw applications until January 28, with exams on May 21. The UPSSSC has invited applications for 929 Assistant Statistical Officer and Assistant Research Officer positions, with a deadline of May 11. Additionally, 2,285 posts including assistant treasury accountant, auditor, amin, executive officer, and clerk are being filled.
A New Era of Governance and Youth Empowerment
The chief minister's announcements and the distribution of appointment letters underscore a concerted push to streamline government hiring and enhance public service delivery. By coupling massive recruitment with strict anti-corruption measures, the administration aims to rebuild trust in state institutions. The expansion of drug testing infrastructure and the quadrupling of analytical capacity promise stronger public health safeguards. For the newly appointed officers, the moment marks not just personal achievement but a collective step toward a more efficient and accountable state machinery.
